Full grown, Clara was a tiny little thing, standing 4 foot 11” tall. But she never let her height get in the way of anything!
In fact, Clara’s career for nearly 40 years was a school bus driver for the department of education.
Despite her petite frame, she could handle and maneuver those gigantic school busses, full of children, like a real pro.
In the early 40’s, Clara met the love of her life – Fred Cooper. They were married in 1945 and spent the rest of their life together, until his passing 52 years later, in December of 1997.
After being a school bus driver, Clara was a laundress for 30 years, providing laundry services to the elderly in assisted living homes.
Clara was very determined and an extremely hard worker – not even retiring until she was 84 years old!
Clara really cared for people. She was loving and easily lovable herself. She had a little giggle and wonderful smile that would light up your heart.
Once you met her, you knew within 10 minutes that she had your back. She was quaint, yet powerful. And it was her way!
As a close family friend described, if you picture a woman from the mid-west on a frontier homestead, putting her foot down, spitting nails and rounding up the kids – that would be Clara.
She was very loving, honest, caring and she loved the Lord, Jesus.
Her Christian faith was extremely important to Clara and she took it very seriously anytime she picked up the bible or started talking about the Heavenly Father.
Clara lived a very long, productive life. Then, due to the sands of time, Clara peacefully drew her final breath then transitioned from this life to eternity with her daughter Clara and loving neighbor, Margaret by her side. She was 95 years old.
Clara is now with the Lord in Heaven and reunited once again with those who left this earthly world before, including her husband, Fred.
Those who remain to cherish Clara’s memory include her daughters Clara and Gigee, grandniece Natasha, beloved granddaughter Kyla and close family friends, Tony, Margaret Montgomery and David Rouch.
Clara’s final resting place is beside her husband at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills memorial park.
