Born on May 17, 1944, in Manila, Philippines, Danny was one of the twin sons of Cipriano Villa and Alejandra Manlapig. He spent his childhood in Calumpit, Bulacan, where he often reminisced about carefree days swimming in the river and riding carabao. These memories shaped his character and instilled in him a love for simplicity.
Danny graduated from Feati University in Manila with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, setting the stage for a distinguished career that would span continents. In the early 1970s, he embraced a new chapter in the United States, continuing his engineering journey with Frankfurter & Associates and later The Boeing Company, where he dedicated over 25 years of service as a Plant Mechanical Engineer at the Development Center in Seattle and in Everett.
In 1972, fate led Danny to meet Rosalina in Seattle through her classmate from the University of Santo Tomas. Their connection blossomed into a courtship, culminating in marriage in 1976. Together, they built a life filled with shared adventures and a commitment to family.
Early riser and disciplined, Danny's adult years began with 4 am swims at the Lynnwood Rec Center before heading to the office. He cherished family road trips to Reno and California, relishing the night drives and sightseeing. Family vacations to London, Mexico, Canada, Philippines and work trips around the United States created lasting bonds and cherished memories.
A man of diverse talents, Danny imparted practical knowledge to his son Vincent, teaching him the intricacies of car maintenance and home improvement. His hands-on approach and skills as a handyman; he generously helped everyone he knew with his time and talent even at a moments notice. Danny's life was marked by humility and simplicity and the rewards that come with helping others.
Expressive in words, Danny sent heartfelt letters and texts of gratitude. He was never without a thoughtful gesture, arriving at Vincent's house with snacks and goodies from Seafood City or Fou Lee, eager to share new culinary discoveries with his family.
A devoted grandfather, Danny never missed his grandchildren's soccer, basketball, or baseball games. He accompanied them to the zoo when Mariel worked weekends, showering them with love and thoughtful gifts.
In his later years, Danny embraced running, sharing this passion with his son Vincent. Together, they participated in local races, culminating in Danny's remarkable achievement of completing the 2003 Walt Disney World Marathon at the age of 58.
In 2016, Danny reunited with family in the Philippines on the passing of his mother, marking a poignant chapter of reconnection.
Nearing the end of his time at Foss Home & Village, Danny made lasting connections, appreciating the kindness of the staff. He engaged in lively conversations, relished a variety of meals, and partook in festivities, including a joyous New Year's party with karaoke, hot chocolate and treats.
Danilo Manlapig Villa is survived by his spouse, Rosalina "Sally," and his only son, Vincent, along with daughter-in-law Mariel and grandchildren Isaac, Mia, Roman, and Geneva. He was predeceased by his parents, Cipriano and Alejandra, and his twin brother Bernabe. Father Cipriano Villa's passing in 1945 left an early imprint on Danny's life, shaping his resilience and compassion.
