Francine Lee Otis

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Francine Lee Otis passed away on February 17, 2025, after enduring a long illness of dementia. Francine was born in Seattle, WA on September 18, 1946, to Clifford and Ruth Schlegel. She grew up in the north Seattle area, graduated from Shorecrest High School and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.

Francine worked at the Boeing Company in the document center where she met Richard Otis. Married on November 1, 1969, in Seattle Washington and sealed for time and all eternity in the Oakland, California Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They lived in Clearlake, Iowa and Whittier, CA but spent most of their married life living on the Eastside of the Seattle area. Richard and Francine had five children, three sons Christopher, Corey, Cameron and daughters Nicole and Stephanie soon followed. She was a dedicated stay at home mother until beginning a second career working in the business offices of multiple doctors in the area.

She was a gifted seamstress, quilter, baker, and cook. She created wedding dresses (2 for her daughters-in-law), prom and homecoming dresses for her daughters and close friends and clothes for her children. Her Christmas candies were a treat that many looked forward to and her recipes continue to live on today being used by her children and grandchildren (she came, she saw, she baked with butter!).

Francine loved her savior Jesus Christ and that was reflected in her service in several church callings such as Relief Society, Young Women’s, Primary as well as an ordinance worker in the Seattle Temple. She found joy in serving others both within the church and her neighbors.

Francine is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, 5 children and 8 grandchildren, her sister Myrna Marler, brothers Gerry and Dean Schlegel. She is preceded in death by her parents.

She will be interred at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills in Lynnwood, Washington on 4 March 2025. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 18860 NE Woodinville Duvall Rd, Woodinville, WA 98077. Visitation from 11 AM to 12 PM, funeral services to follow and interment at 2 PM.
