Born on January 1, 1942, in Egypt to a Coptic Christian family, Gamil became an accomplished veterinarian before marrying Afifa Ibrahim on July 21, 1974. Together, they raised five children: Rania, Mickael, Haydy, Dina, and Christine.
In the early 1990s, Gamil immigrated to the United States seeking a better life for his family. With his wife by his side, he worked tirelessly and sacrificed much to ensure his children had every opportunity to succeed. He later became a proud business owner, managing an adult family home with Afifa until his retirement.
Gamil took great pride in his children’s accomplishments, encouraging them to pursue excellence and to remain close as a family. To nurture that bond, he began the cherished tradition of Sunday family dinners. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren—Antonio, Adrian, Isaac, Johnathan, and Angelina—with whom he shared countless laughs. Known as the family jokester, Gamil’s quick wit and humor brought light to every gathering. Even in his final years of suffering, he found strength in laughter and the love of his family.
A devout Coptic Orthodox Christian, Gamil lived his faith deeply, and we pray he is now at peace in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church of Lynnwood. The funeral prayer will take place on Wednesday, September 17, at 12:00 PM, followed by a wake from 6:00–9:00 PM.
