John D. Wiles

24 February, 1923 – 12 April, 2018
IN THE CARE OF

Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cemetery

Born February 24, 1923, to Clifford and Lillian Wiles as a 4th generation Seattleite. John was the youngest of three children, with two older sisters, Mildred and Dorothy. As an Army Air Corps pilot in 1945 he met and married Texas beauty Nadine Foreman. Together they had five children: Tim, Nancy, Bill, MaryJayne, and Christine. John was a Seattle University graduate who founded and operated his own retail fuel business for 35 years. As an aviator John built and flew his own aerobatic plane and performed many aerial stunts. He was also an avid hobbyist who loved golf, gardening, landscaping, jigsaw puzzles, remote control airplanes, astronomy, serving as Cub Scout master, soapbox race car builder, and more. He was a beloved father and awesome pool partner who banked the 8-ball into the pocket in his final game. He was a unique lover of life with a keen and clever sense of humor. An accomplished gentleman with a generous spirit he always livened up any gathering of people. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, his wife Nadine, daughter Nancy, and grandsons Nathan and Timmy. He was deeply loved and admired, and his devotion to his family was an inspiration to all who knew him. Details of a Celebration of Life for John will be announced by his family.
