Larry Howard Sims, of Lake Stevens, Washington, passed from this life on August 7, 2016 at the age of 76.
Larry was born on August 18, 1939, in Gotebo, Oklahoma to Troy Howard Sims and Myrtle Rose (Brandt) Sims. When Larry was a young boy, the family moved west to California. They spent time living in Arizona, Wyoming and then moved back to California where Larry graduated high school in Bell Gardens. Larry attended college at Columbia Christian College in Portland, Oregon and at Pepperdine University. In his early adult years, Larry moved from California to North Idaho to pursue his passion for fishing, camping, and the great outdoors. He later landed in Seattle, Washington where he made a name for himself in the electrical industry.
Many of Larry’s treasured moments were spent outdoors, camping, fishing and golfing with friends and family. He loved the time he spent with all of his grandchildren and was particularly blessed in recent years by the time with his granddaughters Cassidy, Torance, and Iris. He enjoyed his vacations with family and friends and knew how to embrace and enjoy the down time, but also had a passion for his work. While he was in college, Larry thought he might be a teacher and returned to that desire in his later years by designing curriculum and teaching classes to aspiring electricians. He had a gift for making challenging concepts understandable. Larry served the electrical industry in the Puget Sound area for over 42 years. He worked hard and played hard and was loved by family, friends, and colleagues.
The electrical industry led him to Bonnie, his wife of 41 years. In those years, they were a support to each other through many joys and sorrows. Larry loved, protected, and cared for Bonnie and in his last moments his concern was that she be well cared for throughout her life.
Larry is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Falk) Sims and seven children; Jeff Sims and wife Sarah, Dave Sims and wife Carolyn, Dan Sims and wife Joy, Dana Sims, Dawn Doberenz and husband Mark, Darren Sims and wife Wendy, and Dionne Sims and husband Steve Himelfarb; and his 22 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Troy Sims.
Larry’s physical heart stopped beating, but his heart lives on through his love for family, friends, and colleagues
