Lorraine E. Smith (Wells) passed away peacefully August 20th in Everett, WA. Born in Haugen, WI, November 24th to Frank and Rose Musil on the family farm. She grew up in the Haugen/Rice Lake area with her parents and 2 sisters. Her father, Frank passed away during the depression leaving the women to take care of the farm and live through some trying times. After finishing school in Haugen, she moved to Highland Park, Ill. Where she held two jobs as a waitress and telephone operator for Bell Telephone. In Chicago, she worked in a quilt factory. She met her future husband, Gordon Wells in1942 while visiting relatives in Milwaukee. Lorraine moved to Everett, WA with Gordon’s family when he was deployed to Europe during WWII. She worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” a job she was very proud to have performed. Upon Gordon’s return from the war in 1946, Gordon and Lorraine were married. For a time, their home was with Gordon’s family, running the Olivia Park Market. They built their family home in 1953 in Everett. A work that they were both so proud of, marking their home and yard into a showplace for that time. Daughter Debbie and son Gary were soon to follow. After a wonderful life together, Gordon passed away in 1984. Lorraine kept busy with her many talents of sewing, cooking, and gardening. She was quite the global traveler, seeing many wonderful places around the globe. She was a fantastic dancer, and it was dancing that Lorraine met the second love of her life and married John (Smitty) Smith in 1987. Together they enjoyed more world travel and several cruises. They also saw a good share of the US in their travel trailer. She loved her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She will be so missed. Lorraine leaves behind her loving husband, John, her daughter Debbie DeRosier (Tom) Gary DeMello-Wells (Scott), and Wendy Gilpin (Dennis). She also leaves six beloved grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Many thanks to Tina and the caregivers at Taylor Made Care who did everything they could to make mom feel comfortable and loved in her last years. Lorraine truly lived a blessed life.
