

age 82, of Woodinville, Washington, the loving spouse of Aaro Karvonen and beloved Aunt, reached her eternal home on November 7, 2015.
Marcella was the youngest of six children, born to John and Ann (Janson) Carlson on March 4, 1933, in Rolla, North Dakota.
Marcella is survived by her loving spouse, Aaro, and many brother and sister in-laws, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ann Carlson, her son, James, her sisters, Evelyn, (Tovio) Waltari, Sevia (Harry Huston, first husband, Arnie Waltari, second husband) Waltari, Dorothy, (Wilbert) Tolppi, Donna, (Edward) Mackey, and brother, Reynold, (Carol) Carlson.
Marcella was known for her kindness, beautiful smile, and hospitality. She entertained her guest by giving detailed tours of her home and gardens, as well as serving delicious meals.
Marcella was a very ambitious person. After her schooling, she was employed as a surgical technician at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Later in life, she was an apartment manager, also was employed in a crab factory, nursing home, and other types of employment.
On April 1, 1972, Marcella married the love of her life, Aaro Karvonen, in a double wedding ceremony with Aaro’s sister Rauha and Ernest Hillukka.
Marcella had a unique way of looking at marriage. She wrote a poem in her diary:
LOVE AND MARRIAGE,
GOES TOGETHER,
LIKE HORSE AND CARRIAGE,
LIKE AARO & MARCY,
LIKE BREAD AND CARROTS,
YOU CAN’T HAVE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER!!
In Marcella’s 43 years of marriage to Aaro, they shared many memories of their travels together and the countless precious moments of visiting with their dear relatives and friends.
Marcella now is in her eternal home where there is Everlasting Joy. Memories of Marcella will live on forever.
