Marian Margaret Hurry

Marian Margaret Hurry, beloved mother of two daughters, Linda Hurry Greer (Dave), of Salem, Oregon, and Carol Hurry Gregersen (Todd), of Bothell, Washington, passed away at the age of 95 on Friday, July 5, 2024, following an extended struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Marian was born to Annie Wagner Schmidt and Milton Raymond Schmidt in Taber, Alberta, Canada on March 9th, 1929, at the beginning of the Great Depression. Marian had five brothers and one sister: Donald, Ralph, Allan, Leonard, David, and Louise, all of whom predeceased her. Marian’s cherished husband Bob also predeceased her. He passed away in November 2006.

Marian’s family moved from Alberta, Canada to Greenacres, WA in 1930. Marian met her future husband Bob when she was in 5th grade and Bob was in the 7th grade. Later, they both attended Central Valley High School. Marian played Saxophone in the marching band and Bob played the Accordion. Bob and Marian also grew up attending the same church. They shared a love of music and the bond of shared faith. Bob graduated in 1945 and Marian in 1947.

Marian and Bob were married on May 29th, 1948. They began to raise their family in Veradale, WA with Linda being born in December of 1953, and Carol being born in November of 1958. Marian and Bob moved their family to Kirkland, WA in 1970. Bob and Marian were married 58 years at the time of Bob’s passing.

Post-graduation, Marian embarked on a career that began in bookkeeping. Her career expanded over time, and she ended her working years as Deputy Finance Director of the City of Bothell, of which she was proud. Marian retired from her job in March of 1991.

After retirement, Marian loved gardening, working on crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, cross stitch, and socializing with friends as her health allowed.

In addition to being survived by her two daughters, Marian is also survived by five grandchildren: Ryan Greer, Kevin Greer (Linda) and Adam Lord, John Lord, and McKenzie Bergen (Carol). She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Maylee, Carson, Arlo, Koen, Lyric, and Remy (Linda) and Grady, Vanessa, Owen, Caiden and Duke (Carol).

There are two events honoring the life of Marian Hurry:

The first event took place at noon on 7/12/24. Marian was laid to rest next to her husband Bob at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood.

The second event will be a Celebration of Life honoring Marian. It will be held on August 24, 2024, at 12:00 noon. Please see the details below:
