MARY E. FINCH

Mary Elizabeth (Enos) Finch, age 91, was born on the family homestead in Willard, Montana on February 29th, 1920. She was born to Barton Ladd and Clifton Springs (Benedict) Enos and throughout her life she had a lot of fun with her birthday falling on Leap Year Day. Mary grew up on the family ranch attending Medicine Rocks Country School and graduating from Baker High School, Baker, Montana. From an early age she wanted to be a nurse and after high school she moved to Miles City, Montana to attend nursing school. She received her diploma becoming a registered nurse and fulfilling her childhood dream.

Her faith was an important part of her life, from childhood and throughout her life as a pastor’s wife, loving mother, and nurse.

After completing nursing school, Mary worked at a clinic in Miles City, Montana. While there, Mary met Ozroe Dennis Finch, a returning veteran from WWII and they married on May 8th, 1947. They lived in a few towns in Montana serving as pastors for Assembly of God churches. She continued to follow her passion and served as a nurse at local clinics. They moved to Seattle in 1962 settling in their home in Mountlake Terrace in 1964 where they lived for 36 years until 2000 when they moved to Northaven Retirement Apartments in Seattle.

Mary worked full-time in labor and delivery at Northwest Hospital for over 20 years. Mary truly saw her nursing role as a ministry and participated in the births of many additions to the church families. Mary and Dennis were blessed with four children who survive her death. Three daughters, Bertie Enslow, husband David; Ruth Ann Zangara, husband Michael; Mary Kay Morse, husband Robert; and her son Timothy A. Finch, wife Tove. Mary is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Grandchildren: Mollie Morse; Krista Holmes, husband Brook; Jared Morse; Bryan Richardson, wife Brianna; David Enslow, wife Margaret; Sara Bago, husband Dustin; Rebecca Elfers, husband Andy; Sonja Finch and Synnove Finch. Great Grandchildren: Evan Morse; Tylan Holmes, Thalia Holmes and Amelia Holmes; Nathan Elfers and Daniel Elfers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O. Dennis Finch, her parents, her older brother, David J. Enos and one infant brother, Barton Ladd Enos.
