Mike was born April 7, 1932 in Longview, Washington to Michael Joseph and Ester Hancock.
He graduated from Everett High School a half year early and begin working as a carpenter. A few years later he was drafted into the US Army and was posted to Fairbanks, Alaska.
He married Margaret Ann (Peggy) Rosenberg and they had four children: Rebecca Sue, Elizabeth Dawn, Michael Joseph, and Timothy Robert. After their divorce, Mike met Betty Polanco and they were together until Betty's death in 2012.
Mike was a master carpenter, building everything from homes to a camper, canopies for various pickup trucks and even a coffin for a dog. He also had a farm outside Arlington, Washington for a time where he raised cattle and Christmas Trees.
After he retired, Mike traveled far and wide including trips to Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Egypt, and Costa Rica but his home always remained in Everett. When travel became difficult, he truly enjoyed feeding and watching all the different birds in his backyard.
