Sarah Marie Humiston

Sarah Marie Humiston, 42, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and sister, went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2024. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, gifted homeschool teacher to her five children, faithful servant at her local church, Taylor Creek, and board member of Legacy Homeschool Center. Sarah deeply loved her husband and children, managed a joyfully busy household that included dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, and bees, and could often be found reading, baking, and cooking with her kids, and regularly shuttling them to various activities. She studied Scripture with her children consistently and raised them in the knowledge and admonition of the Lord; she was compassionately nurturing and peacefully thoughtful. Before becoming a full-time homeschooling mother and home manager, Sarah distinguished herself as a skilled and compassionate caregiver working as an oncology nurse at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Her calling as a nurse was inspired by both watching her own mother serve in the nursing field, and her concern for loved ones she knew battling cancer. Sarah was born on November 17, 1981, and grew up in the Seattle area. She was a gifted musician who played the piano, a skill she passed down to her children, as well as the flute. Sarah also sang in the jazz choir at Kamiak High School, where she graduated in 2000. She went on to study at the University of Washington and was active all four years in the Chi Omega sorority, sharing membership alongside her mother; the two often participated together at various events. Sarah also rowed for Women’s Crew. She graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and met her husband Mark at their local church. Sarah and Mark were married on May 12, 2007. Sarah is survived by her son Andrew; daughter Brielle; mother Kathryn Ogden; brother Joseph Ogden; parents-in-law Mark Humiston Sr. and Beverly Humiston; brother-in-law Scott Humiston and his wife Erin Humiston and their children; sister-in-law Emily Humiston Sanchez and her husband Jose Sanchez and their children.
