Althea Rutland Hooker, 89, of Macon, Georgia passed away Friday, December 19, 2025. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snows at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a time for visitation on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. till service time in the funeral home. The family would like to invite friends to attend a visitation following the services at 150 Old Ridge Road Macon, Georgia 31211.
Born in Macon, she was the daughter of the late Lamar Wheat Rutland and Rachel Groce Rutland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbern Claray Hooker Sr., Siblings, Ed Yearty (Tiny) and Anna Wood.
Mrs. Hooker was a graduate of Georgia Southern University and was a retired elementary and middle school teacher with the Macon-Bibb County School System with over 30 years of service. She was a member of the Tattnall Square Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Penny Snyder (John), Peggy Smith (Randy), Pamela Ingram (Clayton)and Chip Hooker. Grandchildren, Stephen Snyder (Addison) McKenzie Snyder, Jordan Smith, Rachel Smith, Adam Ingram and Jessica Ingram. One great grandchild on the way, Sister, Pat Simmons, Fur baby, Sugar and several nieces and nephews.
Snows at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
