Carolyn Bloodworth Rister

Carolyn Bloodworth Rister, 92, of Lizella, Georgia passed away Monday, February 2, 2026. A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel Mausoleum of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Chris Minton will officiate. The family will have a time of visitation on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. till service time in the Mausoleum Chapel.

Born in Wilkinson County, Georgia, on August 24, 1933, to Ralph Morgan Bloodworth and Sarah Elizabeth Dyes Bloodworth. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, William Lee Rister, daughter, Gina Greene, five brothers, Ralph Bloodworth Jr., James Bloodworth, Gene Bloodworth, Billy Bloodworth and Jerry Bloodworth, two sisters, Elizabeth Thigpen and Sarah Purvis. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and friend.

Carolyn was a faithful member of Lizella Baptist Church and a member of the Peggy Merritt Sunday School Class. She was an avid Georgia Bulldawg fan and she loved her long-term caregiver, Kim Patterson.

She is survived by her children, Michael Hooks (Joni) and Janice Braddy Smith (Jerry), one brother, Richard “Bunk” Bloodworth, four grandchildren, Matthew Braddy, Kristen Braddy, Brian Hooks and Lindsay Hooks, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Georgia Baptist Home for Children, P.O. Box 329 Palmetto, Ga. 30268 or to Lizella Baptist Church, 2950 South Lizella Road, Lizella, Georgia 31052.
