A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 12, 2024 at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of their choice.
Charlie was born in Macon, Georgia on June 19, 1940, to Henry and Jacqueline Chambliss. Charlie retired from The Macon Telegraph. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. Charlie’s greatest love was his family, then sports, and gambling. He was a loving husband, Daddy, Papa, granddaddy, great granddaddy, brother, and uncle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Iris Ann Garrard Chambliss.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Carey (Charles) Wimberly, and Kelly Chambliss; grandson, Aaron Wimberly; great grandchildren, Olivia Wimberly, Nicholas Underwood, and Summer Underwood; sister, Gloria Jean Winters, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
