

Charles Levy Halligan, Jr. age 67, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening January 13, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Victory Baptist Church located at 5687 Houston Road at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Kenny Hamm will be officiating.
Charles was born on February 12, 1948 to the late Charles and Gladys Halligan, Sr.. He attended Mark Smith High School. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a police officer with the Medical Center of Central Georgia from 1973 until 1980. Charles became a police officer with the Macon Police Department in 1980, where he served and protected the citizens of Bibb County for 32 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2012. After retiring from the city he worked as a private investigator for his son-in-law’s law office.
Charles was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where he was a faithful servant. Charles loved his Pastor Kenny Hamm and his wife Terri Hamm, as well as his church family. He also thought highly of his former Pastor Paul Lavender and his wife Debbie Lavender.
Charles is survived by his wife of 47 years Susan Halligan, his children, Toby (Lester) Miller, Charles (Amy) Halligan III, Kevin Halligan and Jennifer Halligan, grandchildren; Tyler Miller, Kaleb Halligan, Landon Miller, James Jordan, and Jakala Jordan, siblings; Emma Adkins, Johnny Halligan, Carolyn Halligan, Monty Halligan, and Charlene Halligan.
He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Gladys Halligan, Sr., his brother, Larry Halligan and his grandson, William Charles Miller.
Charles loved the Lord, his family, his church family and all the many friends he made throughout his life. He was a sweet and kind man, with a big heart. He would try his best to do whatever he could for anyone that needed anything. He gave each of us many wonderful memories and he will truly be missed.
