Charles E. Smith, Sr. 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Aubrey Sheats and Rev. Phillip Johnson officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family has requested donations be made to Bellevue Baptist Church, Building Fund, 5925 Price Road, Macon, GA 31220.
Mr. Smith was born in Macon, GA to the late John “Jake” D. and Ruby Sutton Smith. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and was retired from (NCR) National Cash Register. Mr. Smith was a member and deacon at Bellevue Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty one years, Betty Anderson Smith of Lizella, daughter, Sheila Soles (Jim) of Lizella, son, Charles “Chuck” E. Smith, Jr. (Shirley) of Lizella, three grandchildren, Jamie Hayslip of Lizella, Chucky Smith (Katie) of Macon, Wendy Peugh (Steven) of Macon, four great grandchildren, Lane, Kaylee, Eli, and Gracie, brother, John (Major) D. Smith (Helen) of Lizella.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of the arrangements.
