

MUSELLA – Dewey Lee “Buck” Evans, 87, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011 in a local hospital with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Billy Sharpston will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home and suggest that those who wish make memorial contributions to White Oaks Freewill Baptist Church, 7015 Houston Road, Macon, GA 31216.
Mr. Evans, son of the late Ira and Osie Bearden Witcher, was born in Rome, Georgia and was a lifelong resident of Macon. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife of sixty six years, Doris Pelt Evans, daughter, Renee Evans, son, William I. Evans, his daughter, Ruby A. Sanders, sister and brother-in-law, James and Irene Witcher and his sister, Elladees Lowery. He served in the United States Army and retired from Macon Machine Shop after forty one years of service. Mr. Evans was a member of White Oaks Freewill Baptist Church, a Deacon, member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Senior Saints.
He is survived by his family whom he loved dearly, children, Dewey L. (Kathy) Evans, Jr. of Macon, Charles “Randy” (Rose) Evans of Milledgeville, Janie (Kerry) White of Musella and Mona L. (Thomas) Rozier of Juliette; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; his brother, Leonard (Cheryl) Witcher of Marietta; and brother-in-law, Hilbert Lowery of Columbus, and his niece and special caregiver, Kay Allen of Musella and numerous nieces and nephews.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of arrangements.
