A modern-day Renaissance man, Edward earned multiple degrees in science and law. After seventeen years in agriculture, Edward spent the rest of his life as a respected attorney, specializing in criminal defense. He joined the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, served with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 27, volunteered at the Museum of Aviation, and worked in Washington Library’s genealogy department. He also was a black belt in karate, an accomplished oil painter, and a published writer.
Edward was born in Shelby, Ohio to the late James and Dorothy Peterson. He is preceded in death by nephew, Robert Neal Pluta and brother-in-law, Robert Stuart Pluta. He is survived by sisters, Sue Ann Smith (Merle) and Lillian Kay Pluta; nephew, Kip Pluta; aunt, Shirley Arter, and cousins, Julie Arter and Dana Butler.
