

Edward Bowen “Bo” Stollenwerck, 74, passed away after a recent illness in Macon, Georgia on February 12, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Liberty United Methodist Church with Dr. Wayne Anthony officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Tuesday night from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mr. Stollenwerck was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama on August 28, 1942 to the late John Eager Stollenwerck and Gertrude Bowen Stollenwerck. He attended and graduated Robert E. Lee High School in 1961 and University of Southern Mississippi, with a BA Degree in Business Administration, in 1967. He then joined the United States Marine Corps, attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a 2nd Lt., subsequently attended The Basic School at Quantico, Virginia in August 1967. Mr. Stollenwerck married his college sweetheart, Jo Ann Carruth on September 9, 1967. In October 1967, Lt. Stollenwerck was sent to South Vietnam where he served as a combat Platoon Leader and Company Commander, B Co., 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Division earning a Bronze Star w/V (Combat Valor).
Mr. Stollenwerck retired from Lucas Aerospace Industries and served as Director of the American Red Cross in Macon, Georgia. He was an active member of Liberty United Methodist Church for over 40 years and was also active in the community, serving as President of Middle Georgia Personnel Association, and was the Chair of the Rehabilitation Hospital, Navicent Health. He was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League, serving as State Commandant and locally as Commandant of the Middle Georgia Detachment #970 and was also a member of the Marine Corps Association.
Mr. Stollenwerck is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jo Ann Carruth Stollenwerck; three daughters, Kimberly Ann (Richard) Plagge of Maryland, Heidi Renee Stollenwerck of Macon, and Stephanie Leigh (Nathan) Newby of Danville; six grandchildren, Bowen, Stuart, and Grace Plagge and Mason, Peyton, and Ryland Newby; two sisters, Ann Eager (Charles) Mustin of Alabama and Ruth Idelette (Frank)Fordham of Elijay; and brother-in-law, James B. (Jo Ann)Carruth, Jr.
