Eleanor Maxine “Maxie” Kitchens Cannon, 75, went to her heavenly home on September 17, 2021. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, September 26, 2021, at 3:00, in the Sanctuary of Lizella Baptist Church, 2950 South Lizella Rd, Lizella GA 31052. Family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Douglas Cannon, in efforts of offsetting burial expenses.
Maxie was born at Chanute Field, Champaign, Illinois, where her father was stationed in the U.S. Army. Her family later moved to Macon where she resided the rest of her life. She attended A.L. Miller High School. Maxie worked for Southern Bell the majority of her career and later worked at Medical Center of Central GA in medical records prior to becoming a caregiver for her mother. She was a member of Lizella Baptist Church. Maxie lived an abundant life and was an avid dog lover. She had great memories of times spent with members of the Allman Brothers band and crew, her Harley Davidson friends, and attending NASCAR races in her younger days. Prior to her declining health she enjoyed attending the Lizella Baptist Church Golden Fellowship meetings and traveling with them. Due to Maxie’s medical condition, which limited her mobility, she was thankful for Facebook and her ability to keep in touch with family and friends and still feel like she was a part of everyone’s lives. She was extremely knowledgeable in the Bible, and her extensive family heritage on both sides.
Maxie is survived by her son, Douglas Cannon; two aunts, Margaret Sudduth Misch, and Norma Sudduth Selman (Larry), an uncle, Edward Kitchens. She also leaves numerous cousins who meant the world to her and her two beloved dogs, Pippa and Junior.
She was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Cannon, her Mother, Nell Sudduth Kitchens, and father, Virgil Kitchens.
