Ellie Ruth Dozier Russell

Ellie Ruth Dozier Russell, 93, went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2011. She was born June 25, 1917 in Plains, Ga., the oldest of six children born to Joseph E. and Ellie Wiggins Dozier. She graduated from Plains High School in 1933. After moving to Macon she was employed by Bibb Manufacturing Co., the Naval Ordinance Plant, and Bibb County Schools with the Title One reading program. She was married for 74 years to her husband James R. (Tot) Russell. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Mabel White Baptist Church for 43 years, and Pine Forest Baptist Church for 10 years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters, and her daughter, Mary Ellen Russell. She is survived by her husband, Jim, daughter, Jo Ann Pethel (Stan), granddaughter, MaryEllen, grandsons Rob (Syra), Joseph (Cherish), greatgrandsons William and Jack and greatgranddaughter due in July, Ellie Eva, and 17 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Macon Georgia with a visitation preceding at 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to Pine Forest Baptist Church, 1848 Tucker Road, Macon, GA. Reverend Norm Yukers and Reverend Joe McDaniel will be officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
