Emma Sue Fleming was born to the late Peter and Maria Jones Williams on October 3, 1947. She was number eight of ten children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Blanche, Wesley, Ben, Paul, and Sharon. She gave her life to Christ at Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church. She married John Fleming. In that union they had two daughters Tongala Blocker and Keisha Fleming.
Emma attended Faceville Elementary School in Bainbridge, GA and Mount Moriah High School in Attapulgus, GA. She graduated from Savannah State College. Emma retired after 30 years of teaching in Georgia and New York. After retirement, she had several businesses: Medicaid Transportation Service, a Club, Boutique, Grocery Store, and Limo Service.
Emma is survived by her daughters Tongala and Keisha of Macon, GA; a devoted friend John Fleming of Macon, GA; four siblings: Pleddis (Myron) of Debry, Fl., Rudean of Rochester NY, Eugene of Rochester NY, Ann (Carl) of Brunswick, GA; brother-in-law, Frank McGill (Sharon) four grandchildren: Shakavian (Ellis), Natalie (Rico), Nathaniel, and John; ten great-grands: Deonte, Hayden, Keone, Alonzo, Harmoni, Alaina, Khylee, Aja, Heaven, Princeton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow's @ Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home.
