A Celebration of her Life will be held on January 15, 2026, at 11:00 am at Snow's Funerals & Cremations at Macon Memorial Park, located at 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon, Georgia, 31204. A private burial will follow at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will Lenny Barnette, Mark Bowling, Ben Alford, Garrett Rappaport, Austin Sherrill, and Jeff Sherrill.
Visitation will take place following the service at Snow's Funerals & Cremations at Macon Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.
Evelyn was born in Macon the daughter of the late Daniel Howard Mercer and Leola Rowland Mercer and was the widow of Richard Earle Barnette. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Skyla Barnette Sherrill. Evelyn was retired from the Bibb County Board of Education as the secretary to the comptroller.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Shelly Barnette Rappaport and Torri Barnette; grandchildren, Whitney Stockman (Drew), Austin Sherrill (Meghan), and Garrett Matthew Rappaport (Becky); great-grandchildren, Maddux B. Sherrill, August Sherrill, Winnie Sherrill, and Fizz Stockman.
