Francis Robert Steel, 89, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, November 27, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. Otis Andrews officiating. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends from 1:30pm until service time. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Glenwood Hills Baptist Church, 3225 Rice Mill Road, Macon, 31206, or the donor’s charity of choice.
Francis was born in Ames, Iowa to the late William A. Steel, Sr. and Nina McDowell Steel and was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce McBride Steel. He was an Avionics Engineer at Robins Air Force Base and was retired from the United States Air Force. Francis was a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church and the Retired Enlisted Association.
Survivors include his sons, Andrew Dyne Steel and Robert Lee Steel; granddaughters, Madeleine and Rebekah Steel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
