He was born in Live Oak, Florida to the late Harold H. and Florence W. Phillips. Mitch was of the Methodist faith. He was retired from Georgia Center for Youth as a Mental Health Counselor.
He is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Brenda Merlet Phillips of Macon, stepchildren, Roger Clark Martin and Michelle Martin Collins, and two grandchildren.
