Jackie Shirey Hattaway Tharpe, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 21, 2015. A Celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. William Hardee officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Jackie was born in Laurens, County to the late Silas S. and Mattie Lou Shirey. She was preceded in death by siblings, S.W. Shirey, Buford Shirey, Montie Shirey, Essie Diers and Grace Hall. She was a master cosmetologist for over forty years and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Tharpe of Macon, sons; Jeffery Delano Cook, Bart (Debra) Tharpe, Scott (Elisa) Tharpe, grandchildren; Victoria Cook, Harrison Cook, Brent (Jamie) Tharpe, Timothy Tharpe, and Brandon Tharpe, sister, Joyce (Jere) Deihl and sister-in-law, Lessie Shirey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
