Macon – James Avalon Flowers, 77, passed away July 21, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm Sunday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Norm Yukers will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Flowers was born in Headland AL to the late Robert Milton Flowers and Doris Alijean Farmer Flowers. He served his country in the United States Army from 1952 -1955. Mr. Flowers was the past president of the Noon Day Optimist Club from 1977-1978 and was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years Ruth Flowers of Macon; children, Richard (Sharon) Flowers of Johns Creek, GA, Roger Flowers of Macon, Rita (Bill) Fletcher of Lizella, Raina (Kevin) Lance of Macon; sisters, Margaret Pitchford of Dothan, and Pam (Fred) Hardt of Naples FL; brothers, Jerry (Sylvia) Flowers of Macon, Robert Dale (Donna) Flowers of Alexis IL; grandchildren, Andy Fletcher, Ashley Fletcher, Tiffany Yeomans, Lorelai Lance, Larson Lance, Shad Flowers; great grandchildren, Makayla Yeomans, Isabella Yeomans.
