
James “Jimmie” Senter Wright, III, 96, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Jimmie was born in Macon, Georgia to the late James S. Wright Jr. and Theresa Buckner Wright. He graduated from Lanier High School in 1947. Upon graduation he was employed by Eves Electric Company from 1947 – 1949 in accounting. In 1950 he went to work at the Macon Hospital in the stockroom and became stockroom manager after a year. He enlisted in the Army signal corps in March 1954 and did basic training and field radio training at Camp Gordon. During his military service he served at White Sands Proving Grounds with a secret security clearance, earning the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army in February 1956 he returned to Macon and resumed employment at the Macon Hospital. Throughout his years he saw many changes as the Macon Hospital became the Medical Center of Central Georgia and developed teaching roles with the Mercer University School of Medicine. Jimmie was responsible for ordering the furnishings and equipment for the medical school when it was first built. He retired from the Medical Center in 1984 after 35 years of service.
Left to cherish his memory, unofficially adopted son, Robert “Bob” Rogers, cousins, Terry Hobbs, Gayle Brown and Karen Folsom.
