Jeanette S. Brooks, 86, was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 08, 2018, which would have been her daddy’s 110th birthday... oh, what a wonderful birthday celebration! She was loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of Bass United Methodist Church. Through the years she had taught in MYF and the adult Fellowship Sunday School class.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Bass United Methodist Church with the Reverend Michael Rodgers and the Reverend Rex Odom officiating. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery, Griffin GA. The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to Bass United Methodist Church, 4062 Vineville Ave. Macon, GA 31210.
Jeanette was born in Griffin, GA to the late Charlie Baxter Stapleton and Martha Eugenia Wooten Stapleton. She was a lady of many talents. She was a bank teller, a paralegal for several local attorneys, a dedicated historian for The United Methodist Church, a history buff, and earned her real estate license. She never felt real estate was her calling however, because she wanted young couples, buying their first home, to get the very best deal. She was not as concerned about her commission as she was getting a payment that the young couple could afford.
Survivors include her beloved husband of almost seventy years, Horace Paul Brooks of Macon, daughters; Camille B. Watts, and Donna B. Pierce (Tony) Lavey of Macon, granddaughters, Kathleen Pierce Wilder, Susannah Leigh Hayes, and Deanna W. (Scotty) Sutton all of Macon, great grandchildren, Charlie, Aaron, Austin and Sam.
