LIZELLA – Jerry R. Gilbert, 69, died Monday, February 07, 2011 at Pine Pointe Hospice Facility. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. James Buddy Walls and Mr. George Palmer will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home and asks that those who wish make memorial contributions to the Brotherhood of Bluegrass, c/o Jimmy Gay, P. O. Box 671, Montezuma, GA 31063.
Mr. Gilbert, son of the late Melvin Richard and Juanita Rich Gilbert, was born in Cairo, GA and had served with the U. S. Navy. He was a draftsman/engineer with Brown and Williamson and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Gilbert was a member of the Brotherhood of Bluegrass.
Survivors include his wife, Fay H. Gilbert of Lizella; his children, Penny Palmer, Tammy Gilbert and Timmy Gilbert, all of Macon and Frankie Suchey of California; eight grandchildren; his brother, Bill Gilbert of Macon; his sister, Ellie Bates and Martha Messer, both of Alabama; several nieces, nephew and extended family.
