Rev. Larry Buford Jones

FT. VALLEY – Rev. Larry Buford Jones, 78, went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 10, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Ft. Valley. Dr. Neal Wall will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Rev. Jones was born in Tift County, Georgia, the son of the late Irvin J. and Martha Virginia Layfield Jones. He received his Bachelors of Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech; his Master’s of Science in Administration at Georgia College and received his Diploma of General Bible Studies from Liberty University. Rev. Jones became an Ordained Minister in 1962 and was Minister of Senior Adults for over 20 years at Bellevue Baptist Church. He worked 25 years as an Air Force Industrial Engineer and 6 years as Mathematical/Statistician at RAFB. Rev. Jones was a preacher, singer, chalk artist, bible lecturer, Eagle Scout and gave slide show presentations of Israel.

Rev. Jones is survived by his wife, Fran Jones of Ft. Valley; children, Dawn (Felix) O’Neal of Ft. Valley, Donna (Herman) Raiff of Utah, Angela “AJ” (Bill) Childs of Ft. Valley; grandchildren, Karen (Jared) McDonald, Kristy Baggarley, Bailey Childs, Payton Childs; sister, Joyce Lord of Danville; step-granddaughters, Chrissy, Melissa and Kaycee; step-great-grandchildren, Jamie, Landen and Morgan; and many greatly loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
