RIP uncle Skip.  You will be missed by many.  You have now joined Nana and all your siblings, including my mom Harriett, your sister.

My father and Les served in the Air Force at Warner Robins and were lifelong friends. Margaret and Les' friendship to our family spanned over 60 years and NEVER wavered through the ups and downs of life.  Les and my father exchanged their love and goodbyes this past summer as my father's health was declining.  They both knew their time here was short and expressed their deep love for each other as best friends.   We are forever grateful for 'Uncle Les' and he will be a treasured soul throughout our lives.  I pray for his families comfort in their grief, Les was a wonderful person

My favorite memory of Leslie is wrapped in the amazing grace of God who brought us together in 2006. We were born five months apart. Les of a family of ten and I the thirteenth of fourteen chldren.  Although we each were born in New Hampshire  our arrival into this large  busy clan  never resulted in an introduction .
We did not know each other or the plan of God that brought us together for the first time in 67 years. Les and Margaret were traveling north  the weekend of Palm Sunday and had just arrived in Manchester when Les said to Margaret "I have kin who live here, perhaps we can call Alex and see if he would welcome a visit." And so  it happened. It was just a few minutes and  the Dow's were at our door.  Fortunately for me I was visiting my siblings Alex and Agnes. There were no   formal introductions, conversation just began as if I knew these folks and that they were frequent  visitors.  Les was so tall ( I'm 41/2 ft.) Margaret  a gracious lovely Southern belle and their actcent made me listen intently. It was a wow encounter with such wonderful people. . That day was the beginning of a most enlightening  adventure into our family history . As they departed we exchasnged telephone numbers. I couldn't wait to get home and call them.
The plan of God unfolded rapidly. We talked about 37 acres of land at Bear Brook w hich had been  a gift to the Hayes family long before Les and I were born.In an old book in the Manchester Library we had learned that this gift was  from the King of England for services rendered. Unfortunately that  book had been mysterious lost from the library collection. Our family  knew this much of the history and now with Les  and  Margaret we etched out a plan to resolved and finally receive the gift that was  for our family. 
There are no words adequate to express the departure of Leslie. He was and always will be a treasured memory of a Great  loving man after the heart of our Lord.  He and Margaret lived a beautiful loving life. 



I met Les and Margaret in Plymouth NH , Les was as Margaret is so very special. They love New Hampshire and Vermont. They both loved going to Georges in Meredith for the corn beef . To know them is to love them. God shared him with us, his pet name was sugar. The loss of Les is a loss to all. He loved family  and his barn. He collected for years, Now he wants everyone to take something home with them. He and I kept count of how many chippys , we could catch.I could go on but it , I know he is in heaven, God needed a special Man from Ga. How lucky heaven is to have him. I Love you Les, you are one in a million, may God bless all the wonderful family, and Margaret, you are in my Prayers. Every one that visits Margaret don't forget to take something from the barn to remember a wonderful man . Hugs to both. Judy
