Louis Auburn Beard, Jr., 85, went home to be with the Lord and his wife Monday, June 30, 2014. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 10:00AM Thursday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Air Force and Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Central Georgia Masonic Memorial Association. Rev. Lonnie Perdue will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Al Sihah Shrine Temple, 222 Mecca Drive, Macon 31206. The family will greet friends from 6 until 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Beard was born in Rome, Georgia the son of the late Callie Casey Beard and Lewis Auburn Beard. He was the widower of Hazel Merrifield Beard and was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Clyde Beard. Mr. Beard was retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service and also from Bronson Yard Southern Railroad after 20 years of service. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge #255, the Shrine Temple, the Scottish Rite, and the Classic Autos Club.
Mr. Beard is survived by his son, Louis A. Beard, III (Rosemary) of Macon; daughter, Hazel Marie Beard of Macon; sister, Dorothy Jackson of Rome.
