Macon, GA – Margaret Ellen NeSmith, 42, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ellen was born in Bibb County on February 26, 1970 and was a graduate of Central High School. She earned an A.B. degree and M.A. degree in Early Childhood Education at Wesleyan College and Education Specialist degree from Georgia College. She was also certified in Special Education. Ellen taught in Bibb County Public Schools for over nineteen years. She was a wonderful teacher and devoted to her kindergarten, then later Pre-K students. Ellen was devoted to her family and friends.

Ellen is a beloved daughter, sister, cousin and niece. She is survived by her parents, Virginia Phillips and Billy Dorn, sister; Charlotte N. Watson of Macon; brother, Jeff NeSmith (Jenifer) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sister, Hope P. Kilgore (Greg) of Gray, GA; niece, Regan Kilgore of Gray, aunts and uncles; Dean Phillips (Dee), David “Tuffy” Phillips, Bitsy Phillips, close cousins, Michael (Donna) Phillips, Adam, and Noel Phillips and Stuart Phillips, Godparents; Ellen and Frank Connell of Portland, OR and their family, Grandfather; Grover C. Phillips of Lake Butler, FL; step grandparents, Bill and Theresa Dorn, step aunt and uncles, Kathy and Al Copp, Jim and Phyllis Dorn, Michael and Phuong Dorn and John and Donna Dorn, aunt, Pat Yarbrough and devoted friends; Anne Oxford, Michelle Hobbs, April Hammett and Claudia Becker.
