

Mary Margaret Lee Pierce, 93, was called home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 26, 2016. She smiled and laughed up until the moment of her departure. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Noon at Bass United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Jackson City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Rex Odom, Rev. Christopher Peavy and the Rev. Frank Harris officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the church. The family respectfully asks that any memorial contributions, be made to Bass United Methodist Church, 4062 Vineville Ave., Macon GA 31204.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Rome, Georgia to the late Joseph William Lee and Davey Fletcher Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel L. Pierce Sr., her two sons, William R. Pierce and Samuel L. Pierce, Jr. She graduated from Canton High School and later LaGrange College with a degree in education. Mary taught for several years but her real calling was working as a social worker for the Bibb County DFACS office. She was a member of Bass United Methodist Church. Mary loved life, she loved her church and she loved her family.
Left to cherish the memories she left behind are her three beloved granddaughters; Christy (Christopher) Peavy, Jeannie P. Wilder, and Haley Pierce, daughter-in-law; Donna B. Pierce and devoted caregivers; Susan Toole Riley and Sharon P. Stephenson, four great grandsons, four great granddaughters, nieces, nephews, and friends.
