Mattie Pearl Dawson

Mattie Pearl Adams Dawson, 83, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, February 14, 2025, at Snow's at Macon Memorial Park. A celebration of her life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, February 15, 2025, at New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Macon Memorial Park.

Mrs. Dawson was born August 24, 1941, in Sandersville to the late Farris Charles Adams, Sr. and Doretha Reeves Adams. She was a devoted member of New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and held the distinction as the first female Sunday School Superintendent. Mrs. Dawson was a graduate of Fort Valley State University as well as Tuskegee University and was a retired educator for the Bibb County Board of Education, with over forty-four years of service. Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Peace Corps.the Order of the Eastern Star and was a missionary of New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Private First Class Anthony Dawson, Jr.

Mrs. Dawson is survived by her sons: Pastor Gerdine Dawson (Natalie) and Omar Dawson ; grandchildren: Jonathan-Michael D. Dawson, Alysia-Michelle A. Dawson, Adarius T. Dawson and Olan N. Dawson; great-grandson: Gideon D. Bridges; brothers: Deacon Willie C. Adams, Deacon Arthur Adams, Deacon Farris C. Adams, Jr. (Alyce) and Deacon James W. Adams (Annette); sisters: Betty Chance and Gloria Jordan; aunts: Willie Mae McCoy and Eula Canty and a host of nieces and nephews.

Snows at Macon Memorial Park has charge of arrangements.
