

Mr. Melford G. Roach, 72, died Thursday, November 26, 2015, leaving this Earth, going on to Glory. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 5, at 11 o’clock, at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, with burial following in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Father William McIntyre, OFM will officiate. Following the committal service, a catered reception will be held at the funeral home. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 PM. The family suggests that those who wish, make memorial contributions to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Mr. Roach, a native of Montserrat, W.I., was born to the late John Thomas and Henrietta Eleanor Riley Roach, in 1943. He played cricket professionally for the Leeward Islands 1964 through 1966, and continued playing professionally in the United States until the early 1970’s. Melford attained his Master’s degree from Baruch College, in New York and loved to travel. He retired from Pitney-Bowes after many years of service, as Sr. Sales Representative, and was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.
Surviving Mr. Roach are his wife, Cheryl Campbell Roach; daughters, Penelope (Daniel) Huff, Kimberly Leysath; son, Laurie Anthony “Tony” (Tangela) Roach; grandchildren, Daniel II, Devaun, and Jai Huff; Christopher Leysath; Laurie Anthony Jr., Lashawn, Niskya, and London Roach; A.J. and Andre Copeland; brothers, Joseph "Hopie" Roach, Owen (Stacey) Roach; sisters, Shandrena “Audrey” (Shirley) Welch, Iona T. Roach, Edith V. Roach, Monica Ryan; and a host of well-loved friends and extended family.
