Melvin Cantrell, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior January 8, 2015. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Corbitt and Rev. Milton Wood officiating. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund, 365 Pea Ridge Rd. Juliette, GA 31046.
Mr. Cantrell was born in Tifton, Georgia to the late Oscar and Delores King Cantrell and was preceded in death by his siblings, Clyde Cantrell, Tim Cantrell, Warren Cantrell and Myrtice Walters. He was retired from Southern Railroad as a Switchman and also served in the United States Army. Mr. Cantrell was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Brown Cantrell; sons, Michael (Denise) Cantrell and David (Robin) Cantrell; grandchildren, Amy (Clay) Etheridge, Jason (Nicole) Cantrell, Casey (Jeff) Sanders, and Buddy (Erin) Cantrell; six great grandchildren; brothers, Oscar Cantrell and Ronnie Cantrell; and a sister, Judy Tucker.
