

MACON – Nellie Tyson Boyd, 77, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2011 at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Stephen N. Johnson will officiate. The family will meet friends from 4 – 6 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the funeral home and suggests that those who wish make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association Regional Office, 5105 Paulsen Street, Suite C-236, Savannah, GA 31405.
Mrs. Boyd, wife of the late Robert Wyman Boyd, was born in Washington County the daughter of the late Robert M. and Lila Shurling Tyson. She had lived in Macon most of her life and was a member of West Highland Baptist Church. Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her brothers, Grady Tyson and Fred Tyson. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose grandchildren loved going to “Granny’s” house. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
She is survived by those who loved her most, her family…her daughter, Rhonda Boyd (Gary) Holliday of Macon; her son, David (Melinda) Boyd of Macon; her beloved grandchildren, Daniel Holliday, Madison Boyd and Marley Grace Boyd, all of Macon; her brother, John (Myrtle) Tyson of Macon; three sisters, Ellen (Alan) Penrod of Macon, Eva Dell (Ostell) Everett and Patsy Tyson Davis, all of Sandersville; her sister-in-law, Margaret Tyson of Columbus and a number of nieces and nephews. Also, two special children, Anna and Michael Garcia who affectionately called her “Boyd”.
