Rusty Ewart Sawyer Sr., 75, passed away January 8, 2026, at his residence. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park. A celebration of his life will be on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Phil Skelton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, 1800 Orleans St., Baltimore MD 21287.
Rusty was born March 21,1950, in Dublin, Georgia to the late William Sawyer and Lois Carmen. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Brenda Liles Sawyer and brother, Rudy Sawyer. Rusty served his country in the United States Army. He retired from G.E. Capital and formerly worked with First Liberty, BB&T, and IKON in the finance department. Rusty was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in his yard. He was a member of Lawrence Drive Baptist Church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his children: Rusty Sawyer, Jr. (Carla), Brian Sawyer (Christy), and Tamara Lagos (Ever); seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, siblings, Pollyanna Ransom and David Carmen and several nieces and nephews.
