After 93 years of love, laughter and perfectly baked biscuits, our beloved Sara Ellen Herron, known to us simply as Mama or Grannie, had her prayers answered on October 18, 2025 when she went home and met her Lord.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday October 20, 2025, at Friendship Baptist Church in Warner Robins, GA. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. The Rev. Paul Cowles will officiate. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 1322 Feagan Mill Road Warner Robins, GA 31088 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3040 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31210.
Mrs. Herron was born in Hawkinsville, GA, the daughter of the late Harold Cleveland and Mattie Bell Barfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Rome “Mutt” Herron whom she was married to for 66 years and her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Tom Tackett. Mrs. Herron retired from Southern Bell after 30 plus years of service and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Warner Robins. Sara’s life was built around faith, family and service. She loved her Lord and Savior most of all but had a deep love for her family as well as her Log Cabin Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church families. She found great joy in serving in many different roles in her church as well as the Appalachian Ministry and Pioneers.
Her memory will be forever treasured by her loving family: children: Bobby (Kay) Herron and Chris (Marguerite) Herron. Her grandchildren: Vanessa Fulton, Michelle (Jason) Ring, Jennifer (Jason) Morrone, Arika Herron and Samantha ( Mikal) Mitchell. Mrs. Herron also leaves behind 12 Great Grandchildren: Taylor Ring, Autumn Ring, Chandler Ring, Brooke Morrone, Macy Morrone, Emma Mitchell, Myla Mitchell, Eliana Cox, Paisley Cox, Christopher McCullough, Jeffrey McCullough and Amanda Rose McCullough and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be forever grateful for the loving care provided by The Phoenix at Lake Joy the past two and a half years as well as Family Hospice. Erica at Phoenix and Krista with Family Hospice have been very dear to Sara and her entire family as they have provided much love, comfort, laughter and friendship.
Snow’s at Macon Memorial Park have charge of arrangements.
