Sheila was born in Macon to Prentice and Elizabeth (Owens) Herring on September 21, 1946, joining her sister Sylvia to complete their family. A graduate of McEvoy High School, Sheila spent much of her working life in the hospitality industry, entertaining travel groups and Presidents alike. A natural homemaker, Sheila could cook anything and make it incredible—a talent she inherited from her beloved mother. The greatest pride of Sheila’s life, however, was that of being a grandmother and traveling to Cherokee, North Carolina.
Sheila was a long-time member of First Christian Church of Centerville, and regularly let her family know that she wanted her funeral to be a celebration of her homecoming into the kingdom of Heaven.
Sheila is survived by her husband Larry, children Lynn (John) Dorminey and Lee Cole and their father Thomas (Lisa) Cole, and Christy (Brian) Donaldson, stepchildren James (Kathy) Glover, Kristie (Brian) Jones, Janet Glover, and Christie (David) Walsh, sister Sylvia Jackson, grandchildren Mandy (Josh) Purvis, Ariel (Matt) Massee, Trey Glover, Austin Mueller, Logan Glover, Brittney Allen, Madison (Brayden) York, Brianna and Ree Donaldson, great-grandchildren Ethan, Emerson, and Lane Massee, Ava and Aiyana Brown, Tatum York, nephews Kemper and Carey Watson, sister-in-law Sharon Cowart, Carol Hooks, Kathy Gillis and brother-in-law, Wendell Glover (Susie), and many cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Prentice and Elizabeth (Owens) Herring, stepdaughter Michelle Allen, grandson Justin Allen, and several aunts and uncles.
Snow’s Funerals & Cremations at Macon Memorial Park have charge of arrangements.
