Sidney E. Harrelson

Sidney E. Harrelson, Sr., 81, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Max Patterson and the Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon GA 31210.

Mr. Harrelson was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Owen Homer and Bessie Lyles Harrelson. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty three years, Jeanelle Carr Harrelson. Mr. Harrelson was a graduate of Mercer University and served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Mabel White Baptist Church, where he taught the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, and was a former member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church. Mr. Harrelson was in the tire recapping business in Macon for many years and was retired as an Insurance Agent, teaching Georgia Insurance Certification Classes at Georgia Technical College. He was a former member of the Exchange Club of Macon and was a devoted leader and past president of Macon Little League for over eighteen years. Mr. Harrelson was a devoted Christian whose life centered around the love of his children, grandchildren, great grandchild and his family.

He is survived by his children, Sidney E. (Angela) Harrelson of Johns Creek, GA, Tim (Suzanne) Harrelson of Flower Mound, TX, Jamey (Amy) Harrelson of Perry, GA, Jonathan (Ann Sapp) Harrelson of Macon, GA, his beloved grandchildren; Sidney E. Harrelson, III, Bryce Harrelson, Paige Harrelson all of Johns Creek, GA, Jessica Harrelson (JJ) Hale of Lewisville, TX, Jennifer Harrelson (Josh) Rector of Lewisville, TX and Heather Harrelson of Flower Mound, TX, and Jay Harrelson of Perry, GA and great grandchild, Andileigh Rector of Lewisville, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
