Vera Mae Tucker Yawn, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017. A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Garner officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 7495 Knoxville Road, Lizella GA 31052.
Mrs. Yawn was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Marshall I. and Edna T. Tucker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Etheridge Yawn. Mrs. Yawn was a graduate of Miller High School and was retired from the Board of Education where she worked in the lunchroom at Redding School for many years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Frances Newberry Sunday School Class. Vera devoted every Thursday to “Vera and Friends” at the Cherry Blossom Nursing Home where she would have a devotional and singing for twenty years. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her children; Diana Y. (Jerry) Brown of Lizella, Rita Y. (Robby) Nable of Lizella, Lee Yawn of Lizella, grandchildren; Kelsey Brown, Tyler and Jeremy Nable, sister; Betty Newberry, brothers; William Tucker and Felton Tucker and several nieces and nephews.
