To Marc and Mike, my deepest sympathy on the passing of your father. My stepdad, Jim, informed me of his passing just last night. It is a terrible thing to watch your parent become dependent on you and watch their personality disappear before your eyes. I still have some of Gene's political signs when he first ran for office. What an impact that made on my life at the time. May God hold your hearts in the comfort of His hands in the days to come.

I am so sorry to hear of Gene's passing.  I was blessed to have had the opportunity to know him when we took oil painting classes together.  He was truly a talented artist, a Southern gentleman and will not be forgotten.  My prayer are with the family during this difficult time.

We were saddened to hear of Gene's passing.  He was a friend and man who helped our family when a need arose.  He always asked about our children and wanted to know how they were doing. I called him Perry Mason because he never lost a case for me he's been my attorney and my friend for over 20 years I will truly miss him every time we met we talked about the Lord and now he is with him

Gene was a man of many diverse talents; a mind for law, sports, storytelling, verbal sparring, and painting. I was blessed to have known Gene through my father when Gene took oil painting classes from my father for several years. We engaged in some memorable banter sprinkled with playful wit and sarcasm, and it was a great pleasure to have known him. Prayers of peace and comfort going up for his family and friends who have lost a real treasure of a man.

I am so sorry to hear of Gene's passing. He was a good friend for many years. It was a pleasure to know him and I will miss him.

It's hard to express my feelings, but for sure I feel a great deal of sorrow and an empty feeling in my heart. Many, many good times with the boys, other friends and family over the years. I am also happy the struggles of the past few years are now over and heaven has a new intelectual gentleman in it's house. He is and will be missed

Gene was very special. I loved listening to his stories and teasing him whenever I went to his office. He will be missed.
