A visitation for Benny will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Snow's Funerals & Cremations at Macon Memorial Park, 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon, Georgia 31204, followed by a Celebration of his Life at 11:00 AM. Dr. Terry Hendrix will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Benny's memory may be made to Harmony Community Church (P.O. Box 900, Fort Valley, Georgia, 31030) and Jay's Hope (www.jayshope.org).
Benny was born in Macon, Georgia, the son of the late Willie Mae Kennington Hawthorne and Benjamin Cleveland Hawthorne, Jr., and was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Wayne Hawthorne. He was retired from UPS after 30 years of service and attended Harmony Community Church.
Benny is survived by his wife, Diane Gladin Hawthorne of Macon; sons, William Cleveland Hawthorne (Michelle Meredith) and Joseph Luke Hawthorne (Ali); sister, Dale Hawthorne Fuller (Roby); sisters-in-law Kay Yetter, Carol Norris, and Lynn Gladin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
