MACON- William Lonnie Rutledge Sr., 65, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Monday, June 13, 2011 at his residence after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2011 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park with the Reverend James Williams officiating. Burial will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Family will greet friends Thursday evening from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Rutledge was born in Tupelo, Mississippi to the late Dora Ruth Sheffield and Henry Bedford Rutledge. He was a retired automobile salesman. He served in the U.S. Army, serving two tours in Vietnam in the Green Berets earning numerous war medals including the Purple Heart. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf.
Mr. Rutledge is survived by his wife of 45 years: Diane Rutledge; Children: Henry (Vickie) Rutledge, William Lonnie (Sheila) Rutledge Jr and Tammy (Clay) Connell; Cherished Grandchildren: William III, Kaleigh, Tiffany, Cole, Michael, Felicia, Jared, and Chase. Brother: Chris (Vicky) Rutledge; Sister: Henrietta (Donnie) Reathford; Several Nieces and Nephews.
