Donald I. Fullerton was born in Cambridge, MA on March 27th, 1929. The second son of Robert and Edith Fullerton. He passed away, on March 19th, 2024. He is predeceased by his Wife of 64 years, Priscilla Fullerton, older brother Robert Fullerton and younger brother, Paul Fullerton.
Don spent most of his younger years as a resourceful child, figuring out ways to make money one of which was a delivery boy, around the age of 9 or 10. He would deliver corsages for all the Harvard men for their dates that night. He would put all the flowers on his bicycle handlebars and they would stream down and flow in the wind as he rode.
He started working at the age of 14 in the warehouse for Ben Elfman and Co., doing odd jobs and worked his way to commercial carpet sales retiring at the age of 64 only taking time way to serve his country with the Army in the Korean Conflict for 2 years.
Don and Priscilla met at an Airlines New Year’s Eve party. Early summer he proposed on a day trip through New Hampshire and Massachusetts. They were married on December 1st, 1956. A marriage “made in heaven” for years!!
During that time, they had three children, David married to Mary Ellen from Beverly, MA. Glenn residing in Jacksonville, FL and Beth, married to Bruce Heidebrecht of Georgetown, MA. His grandchildren include Adam Fullerton, married to Alexandra along with their children, Owen and Ethan of Redwood City, CA. Alexander Powell of San Francisco, CA and Jolyciel Fullerton of Goldsboro, NC along with many nieces and nephews.
Don and Priscilla were pillars of the First Church Congregational in Swampscott, MA of which he was a member for 65 years. He even served as the moderator in the 80’s for several years. After his retirement, he was a member of the retired men’s group of First Church. A group of fine retired men who enjoyed their donuts and coffee while bonding and doing odd jobs around the church and property to keep it always presentable.
Don and Priscilla also ran estate sales in their retirement together. The extra money was put towards their many trips around the world. Camel riding in Egypt, whitewater rafting in Jackson Hole, WY and kissing the blarney stone in Ireland were just a few of their adventures together.
He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather and will be missed by his family and church family.
Visiting hours and Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 26 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street. His funeral will be held at The First Church Congregational in Swampscott, 44 Monument Avenue on March 27th, his 95th birthday, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a coffee hour at the church and then burial at Puritan Lawn Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with the Love of his Life, Priscilla.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the First Church in Swampscott Congregational or the National Kidney Foundation in his name.
