

Gloria Griffith Lovekin, 88, died on June 8, 2015 at Salem Hospital in Salem, Massachusetts after a short illness. She was born in Missouri on January 22, 1927 to Clifford S. and Gertrude L. Griffith.
At the age of 5 she became a long time resident of Ridley Park. After marriage she and “Jim” settled in Aston. She enjoyed almost 65 years of marriage (1947-2012) with her high school sweetheart, Raymond “Jim” E. Lovekin, Jr. Preceding her in death were her husband Jim, her brother, Clifford “Bud” Griffith Jr. and sisters, Mary Tench and Lorna Creamer. Also preceding her in death were her grandchildren James Lovekin and Ashley Elser.
Gloria was a long time purchasing agent for Alden Rug Mill, Sunroc and Boeing Vertol. She then retired to Charlestown, MD where she enjoyed 10 years of substitute teaching for the Cecil County public school system. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, singing, storytelling, card games and family. Gloria and Raymond last resided in Marblehead, MA with her daughter and son-in-law.
Gloria is survived by her sons, James and Raymond Lovekin and daughter Laura Elser. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A private memorial for the family will be held in Maryland.
